New Products
Announcing Automatic Re-collection with a Single ULTRA Autosampler

The ULTRA 50:50 Automated Thermal Desorption System UltrA 50:50

Markes International is proud to announce an innovative new addition to its UNITY range of thermal desorption (TD) systems:

The ULTRA 50:50 offers automated thermal desorption of up to 100 tubes with automatic re-collection of 50 (or 100) samples on the same ULTRA autosampler*.

Pioneered by Markes International in 1998, quantitative re-collection of TD samples (SecureTD-Q) has set a new benchmark for analytical thermal desorption technology. SecureTD-Q is perfect for repeat analysis of TD methods/data as referenced in international standard methods such as ASTM D6196-03.

ULTRA 50:50 systems offer quantitative and automatic re-collection of the outlet split flow from up to 50 samples onto a corresponding number of re-collection tubes. Alternatively up to 100 samples can be automatically re-collected back onto the original sorbent tube if preferred.

There are numerous reasons why ownership of a Markes thermal desorber is the perfect complement to your GC-(MS):

  • Repeat analysis and method / data validation: Quantitative re-collection of both inlet and outlet split (manual or automated options) - SecureTD-Q.
  • Wide analyte range (C2 to C40) on a single TD platform: Inert flow path, wide temperature range and splitless to double split operation (up to 100,000:1) for optimum application versatility.
  • Reduction of instrument downtime: Electrically-cooled focusing trap for cryogen-free operation eliminates risk of ice plug formation.
  • Remote unattended operation for extended time periods: Mechanically simple automation for up to 100 industry-standard sample tubes or on-line / canister monitoring for 3, 6 or 8 channels allowing automatic sequencing between sample, zero and standard gas streams.
  • Cost reduction and extended application flexibility through an unmatched range of labour-saving sampling accessories. Products include:
    • Pumped and diffusive sampling tubes.
    • Breath sampling
    • Accessories for materials emissions testing
    • Soil probes
    • Stand-alone accessories for off-line conditioning and dry purging of multiple tubes
    • Automated sequential sampling onto multiple tubes
    • Tube seals and accessories
    • Certified reference standards, etc.

The UNITY single tube TD platform is fully upgradeable through the ULTRA 50:50 to the AutoSecure TD system. AutoSecure systems feature two ULTRA autosamplers allowing quantitative and automatic re-collection of both inlet and outlet split for repeat analysis of double split methods.

Workshop Sessions

There will be opportunities for anyone with an interest in thermal desorption to try out the ULTRA 50:50 with real samples in a series of half-day workshop sessions to be held at our new laboratory premises over the next 3-4 months. Details will be included in our next newsletter. For preview information on the ULTRA 50:50 workshops, please contact admin@markes.com.

Markes UNITY series of thermal desorbers represent the state-of-the-art in cryogen-free analytical thermal desorption for sorbent tubes, direct desorption of materials and canister/on-line air samples. For more information on the ULTRA 50:50, Markes TD systems in general or any of Markes comprehensive range of thermal desorption accessories / sampling accessories please contact enquiries@markes.com.
